It’s The Romantics’ world, we’re just living in it!

The legendary director Yash Chopra’s impact on Hindi cinema is indelible, and Netflix pays tribute to the legend and Yash Raj Films’ cultural impact on India over the past 50 years in a new docu-series The Romantics, which will be released globally on February 14th!

The Hindi film industry will come together to celebrate Yash Chopra in the docu-series. Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif, and others from the Indian entertainment industry will pour their hearts out to speak about how the legend’s work shaped their cinematic vision!

Yash Chopra is well-known for his boundary-pushing romantic films such as Silsila, Lamhe, Kabhi Kabhie, Veer-Zaara, Dil To Pagal Hai, Chandni, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and others. SRK, who has worked four times with Yash Chopra, recalls being mesmerized while watching those films. “As a professional, if I would have to spend 100 days on a set, I would rather do it on a Yash Chopra set than anybody else’s,” he says.

Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif praised Yash Chopra for portraying his heroines as independent, forward-thinking, self-reliant, and strong. Yash Chopra’s heroines influenced how the Indian film industry portrayed women on screen. “The way that Yashji portrayed his heroines was so dignified, graceful, and layered,” she says.

In The Romantics, Amitabh Bachchan, who has worked with Yash Chopra on landmark films such as Deewar, Silsila, Kabhi Kabhie, Trishul, Kaala Patthar, and Veer Zaara, calls Yash Chopra a true master of cinema, citing how brilliant he was with diverse genres!

“We shot for Deewar for several months within ten or fifteen days. We started Kabhi Kabhie suddenly to shift to an environment which is full of flowers and mountains and snow but the ease with which he just adapted to that was just quite remarkable!,” he states.

Smriti Mundhra, the Oscar and Emmy-nominated filmmaker who directed Indian Matchmaking and the Never Have I Ever franchise, returns to Netflix with The Romantics.

Netflix, one of the world’s leading entertainment services, will also feature 35 leading personalities from the film industry who have worked closely with YRF over its 50-year glorious existence in this four-part docu-series.

Aditya Chopra, the reclusive head of the legendary Yash Raj Films, has also recorded his first on-camera interview for ‘The Romantics’! Hearing him discuss YRF and the Hindi film industry in this docu-series would be a huge highlight for the film fraternity, cinephiles, and the Hindi film audience at large.

YRF is currently at an all-time high, with their latest release Pathaan, the fourth film in YRF’s Spy Universe, breaking all box office records worldwide. Pathaan is now the number one Hindi film in the world and the biggest all-time blockbuster in Hindi cinema history.

YRF has produced some of Indian cinema’s biggest blockbusters, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, War, Sultan, Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Mohabbatein, and the Dhoom franchise, to name a few. It has also produced landmark content and iconic hits such as Chak De! India, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Mardaani, Band Baaja Baaraat, and others.
