Tabu’s last film Bharat was a huge hit. Ishaan Khatter too has done well with his first two films – Beyond The Clouds And Dhadak.
Now we hear, Tabu and Ishaan are going to come together for Mira Nair’s adaptation of the book A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth. The film has not got a title yet.
The film is written by Andrew Davies, who has previously written films like Pride & Prejudice, Les Miserables and more.
Ishaan Khatter will essay the role of Maan Kapoor in the film. Tabu will play the role of Saaeda Bai, a courtesan. Television actress Tanya Maniktala will be playing the role of the protagonist Lata.
This is a coming of age story of a girl (Lata) whose mother wants a suitable husband for her but she embarks on a journey of love and self-discovery. She is connected with Maan Kapoor, which Ishaan will play, through their siblings’ marriage.
While he is the son of a politician, he wants to live his life to the fullest. He is infatuated by the courtesan, Saaeda Bai and this is how the trio’s stories progress during the most difficult time in the history of India.
The project will go on floor next month and will be shot across North India at locations like Lucknow and Maheshwar.
Tabu is also a part of Jawaani Jaaneman which stars Saif Ali Khan as Amar Khanna. The film also marks the debut of Alaia Furniturewala as Gauri Khanna.
It’s interesting to see Tabu and Ishaan working together for such a unique concept.
