It’s been a while since we saw Kangana Ranaut on the big screen. But now, it seems that the long wait will be worth it with her next film, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. Apart from playing the lead role, Kangana is also co-directing the film along with Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi.
At the film’s trailer launch today, Kangana said that the film’s subject is a bit jinxed.
“The subject of Manikarnika is a bit jinxed. Many people tried to make this film earlier as well. And I think that there’s a Devi Shakti who wants blood. On the first day of the shoot, I was injured on the head thanks to my friend Nihaal Pandeyji. I got 20 stitches because he hit me with a sword. My eyes were covered with blood and I couldn’t see. The bone between my eyebrows was exposed.”
She went on to reveal that she wasn’t ready to direct.
“The director of the film left midway. Everyone was contemplating and looking at various options. We had to complete the film. I would like to thank Prasoon Joshi for the confidence he showed (in me). He told the team to let me direct the film. Honestly, I was not ready. Because when we started the film all the action and horses (was new for me). I was like a duck paddling beneath the surface. Everything was too much for me – the action, the period drama, the costumes. I was very conscious in the beginning. There were a lot of gossip stories in the media about the film because they didn’t know what was actually happening. And that was not the time to clarify.”
Well, now the trailer of the film has just released and the film will be out on 25th January. As they say, all’s well that ends well.
