As 2015 comes to a close, the Urban Asian team takes a moment to reflect on all things Bollywood related that happened this past year. While some actresses, like Kajol and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, made comebacks into the film industry and newcomers, like Athiya Shetty, took their first step into the world of Bollywood, there are some actresses who have reigned over the movies, dominating box office collections consistently. We present to you (in no particular order) our list of top 10 Bollywood actresses of 2015.

Jacqueline Fernandez

This Sri Lankan beauty is slowly climbing to the top of Bollywood’s ladder of fame and success. While her double-role performance as an outgoing director and classy love interest in Roy was not the most popular, she is proving that she is an actress that is here to stay.

Deepika Padukone

It is no surprise that Deepika is one of the leading actresses of 2015. Churning out back-to-back hits like Piku, Tamasha, and now Bajirao Mastani, she has been the most consistently successful actress of B-town. More power to you for 2016, Deepika!

Kalki Koechlin

While Kalki has certainly not delivered as many films as Deepika this year, critics and viewers laud her fantastic performance in Margarita With a Straw! She will be seen next year alongside Ali Fazal in Soni Razdan’s film “Love Affair”.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka has had quite a few noteworthy successes this year. From producing and acting in an intense role in NH10 to playing a carefree dancer in Dil Dhadakne Do, she has proven her versatility once again. At the moment, she is involved in Karan Johar’s project “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, also starring Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Sonam Kapoor

Known as B-town’s most glamorous fashion icon, Sonam has appeared in her fair share of films in 2015. Her versatility in Dolly Ki Doli earlier this year, coupled with her grace and poise as Princess Maithili in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, has earned her a place in the hearts of many viewers. She will be seen in a more serious avatar on the silver screen next year in and as Neerja.

Richa Chadda

Richa Chadda is a newcomer that has certainly made her presence known this year. Her performance in Masaan has been appreciated by movie buffs and critics alike. We wish Richa all the best for 2016 and hope to see her in many more thought-provoking roles.

Priyanka Chopra

More than Bollywood, PC is reigning over the small screen in Hollywood through the immensely popular TV series Quantico, which is only building her fan base in Bollywood. Her performances as a conflicted wife in both Dil Dhadakne Do and Bajirao Mastani has appealed to many viewers. Next year, she will appear in Prakash Jha’s “Jai Gangajaal”.

Shruti Hassan

Shruti Hassan is one actress who is currently topping Bollywood, Kollywood, and Tollywood, having acted alongside lead stars in all three industries. After her Kolaveri fame with Dhanush, this multitalented actress-singer-musician recently starred in Welcome Back and Gabbar is Back and is currently involved in multiple Hindi projects, including “Rocky Handsome” and “Yaara”.

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana is by far one of the most talented actresses of the industry. Her amazing acting ability and versatility in Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Katti Batti have shown that she can sincerely and convincingly essay any role. Currently, Kangana is filming for Vishal Bhardwaj’s next, “Rangoon”.

Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor simply shined in ABCD 2 this year. After seeing her in a serious avatar in Haider last year, everyone was particularly mesmerized by her awesome dancing skills in “Sun Saathiya” and all the other tracks from ABCD 2. She’s now gearing up for “Rock On 2″, which hits the floors sometime next year.
