In an inspiring conversation, she opens up about her journey—from overcoming insecurities to walking global runways—and her mission to uplift women across generations.
Being crowned Mrs. Universe Petite USA 2025 was a surreal and emotional moment for Rashmy. “It felt like a celebration of how far I’ve come,” she shares. “From battling insecurities about my body and height to embracing myself with pride and confidence, this crown represents breaking stereotypes and standing tall in my truth.” Her win came on the heels of another achievement—being crowned Mrs. Bharat USA Universe, which qualified her for the international Mrs. Universe pageant in 2025.
Congratulations on your title! How did it feel to be crowned Mrs. Universe Petite USA 2025, especially as the first representative from South India?
Being crowned Mrs. Universe Petite USA 2025 was truly a surreal and emotional moment for me. I also won Mrs. Bharat USA Universe, which made me eligible to participate at the international Mrs. Universe pageant in 2025. Standing on that stage as the first from Kerala to hold these titles was incredibly empowering. It symbolized my journey from battling body image insecurities to embracing who I am. This crown stands for breaking stereotypes, and proving that self-love and perseverance can rewrite your story.
Can you take us through that moment in New York when you were announced as the winner?
It felt like the pinnacle of everything I’ve worked for. When they called my name, time stood still. My heart was racing. All the sacrifices, sleepless nights, practice sessions—it all led to that one life-changing moment. It felt like a dream come true.
What inspired you to compete in the Mrs. Universe Petite USA pageant, and how did you prepare for it?
I wanted to elevate my modeling experience by using the platform to spread self-love and empowerment. My preparation was both fun and focused. I practiced my walk in beautiful gowns, tried different makeup looks, rehearsed Q&A answers, and built my confidence daily. I truly enjoyed the journey.
What does the title “Mrs. Universe Petite USA” mean to you personally and culturally?
It means showing the world that being “normal” is powerful. I don’t fit the typical pageant mold—I’m not a size 0 or conventionally perfect. Yet, I won. This title is for every woman who thought she wasn’t enough. It’s about celebrating authenticity and redefining what beauty looks like.
You’re breaking barriers as a petite woman over 40—what message do you want to send to other women who feel overlooked?
To every woman who’s ever felt unseen: you are enough. Don’t chase surgeries or societal molds—embrace your natural confidence. Your uniqueness is your superpower. Own it, step into your truth, and the world will follow.
How important is representation in platforms like this—especially for Indian women and minority communities?
It’s essential. Representation validates identities. Seeing someone like you on a global stage breaks cultural and societal barriers and tells young girls from all communities, “You belong. You matter.” Authenticity and passion must always lead the way.
What role has your heritage played in shaping your identity as a contestant and titleholder?
My South Indian heritage is my foundation. Its values, strength, and vibrant traditions shaped me. For the prop round, I portrayed Unniarcha, a warrior princess from Kerala, to honor women’s courage through history. Her strength inspired me to be fearless and unapologetic on stage.
You wear many hats—model, IT professional, mother, mentor. How do you maintain balance in your life?
It’s a daily dance. Some days are overwhelming, juggling kids, work, fitness, and home—but I have a supportive husband and independent kids. We work as a team, and that helps me stay grounded and driven.
Tell us more about your upcoming digital platform for women’s empowerment.
I’m launching a digital hub for women where I’ll coach aspiring contestants, judge virtual pageants, and deliver motivational workshops. It will include webinars, mentorship, and training in presentation and confidence-building. The goal is to create a space where women from all walks of life can grow and thrive.
You’re involved in charity and community work. What causes are close to your heart?
I volunteer weekly at Feed My Starving Children and support the American Red Cross through blood drives and relief work. Locally, I’m involved in women’s empowerment projects in Minneapolis—hosting mentorship sessions and confidence workshops for women chasing their dreams.
1You’ve walked global fashion weeks—what have those experiences taught you about confidence?
Every runway reminded me that confidence comes from owning who you are. Walking under bright lights taught me to turn vulnerability into power. Each show is an expression of self, and when you show up authentically, you become unstoppable.
What advice do you have for aspiring models or pageant contestants, especially those starting later in life?
I started in my mid-30s. I used to wish I looked different, but when I accepted myself, doors opened. So my advice is: don’t wait. Embrace what you’ve got and let your attitude shine. Passion, not perfection, is the key to success.
1How do you mentor women, and what do you find most rewarding about it?
I mentor through honest storytelling—sharing how I turned insecurities into strengths. We work on goal setting, confidence-building, and personal growth plans. The best part? Seeing a woman transform from self-doubt to self-belief. That spark of realization is everything.
What would you say to women who feel like it’s too late to chase their dreams?
It’s never too late. I achieved this after 40. If I can do it, so can you. Dreams have no expiration date—just courage requirements.
