The premiere for director Rahhat Shah Kazmi’s new film COUNTRY OF BLIND took place on October 5th in Edison, New Jersey, with filmmakers and guests attending. Released by Reliance Entertainment, the acclaimed film is now playing in cinemas in major cities across the U.S.
Adapted from H.G. Wells “The Country of the Blind”. The story, set in 18th century in Himalayas of India, is about a mountaineer named Abhimanyu who while guiding a group of European mountaineers for climbing an unconquered mountain, slips from a cliff and falls a thousand feet down. He is considered dead by the group but he survives and lands into a strange valley, a place where all the inhabitants are blind since generations and they do not have any idea about vision, In the country of blind, a man with eyes with a belief of superiority fails to prove his mettle and is considered disabled… The story touches many socio-economic issues through the journey of Abhimanyu in a symbolic manner.
