Times Music presents ‘Jana Gana Mana’ an emotional interpretation of Indian National Anthem performed by Isheeta Ganguly. It features a hard-hitting recitation of ‘Where The Mind Is Without Fear’ by renowned Author, Former UN & Current MP, Shashi Tharoor.

Isheeta Ganguly is an acclaimed Tagore fusion singer, playwright, and director. The video has been conceptualized and edited by a twelve-year-old student, Adarsh Das. The video shows aerial footage of Mumbai during the lockdown – silent and deserted. Moreover, it’s interesting and moving to see ‘the city that never sleeps’ under crisis through the eyes of a 12-year-old.

Furthermore, Dr. Shashi Tharoor’s recitation of Rabindranath Tagore’s iconic poem, ‘Where The Mind Is Without Fear’ evokes hope and courage.

Speaking about the video, Isheeta Ganguly said, “India like the world has been thrown into an unprecedented crisis. Our National Anthem celebrates every region and Indian in this country and abroad regardless of caste, creed & colour. As a beacon of hope for all, we ask the city and country to join us in this movement of resilience and solidarity through our deep love and connectedness to this anthem.

“Dr. Shashi Tharoor’s recitation, spoken as if Tagore’s words are his own, adds tremendous breadth to the canvas of the anthem.”

Additionally, he adds “It was a moving experience to recite Gurudev Tagore’s immortal lines after listening to Isheeta’s voice and feeling the uncertainty assailing our nation in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, our minds are currently gripped by fear of the unknown, of possible attack by the virus; fear has led to the demonization of certain of our own citizens, either because of their appearance or their religion. Also, the Tagore verse speaks of India transcending such fears and narrow divisions to a broader self-realization. I felt it could not be more appropriate today to accompany Isheeta’s heartfelt rendering of the national anthem.” said Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Renowned Author, Former UN & Current MP.

This heartfelt rendition of the national anthem along with the poem ‘Where the Mind Is Without Fear’, is a call for all Indians to unite in our fight against COVID-19.  ‘Jana Gana Mana’ is a Times Music exclusive release and available only on Times Music YouTube channel. Also, it’s available on all streaming platforms for you to listen to.
