Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain, which was produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, was a massive hit of 2014. The film starring Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Shraddha Kapoor earned more than 150 crore at the box office. Now, Ekta and Mohit are planning a sequel to the successful crime thriller. The film tells the story of Sidharth and Shraddha who are tormented to their breaking point by Riteish who played the villain.
If sources are true, Arjun Kapoor will step into the shoes of Riteish. Deshmukh who played a cold-blooded serial killer in Ek Villain and now Arjun is ready to step into the dark zone with Ek Villain 2.
Says a source,
“Ekta Kapoor wants to turn Ek Villain into her production house’s Dhoom franchise. The problem here is who will play the formal hero when the villain has the author-backed role?”
It is unsure if Sid will continue with his protagonist’s role in the film. The antagonist’s role in the first installment proved to be a scene-stealer and the second may be the same as well.
Mohit Suri who directed the first Ek Villain will direct this as well. Suri and Kapoor share a good rapport since their collaboration on the screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s Half Girlfriend.
On the work front, Arjun is currently busy with the shoot of Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical drama, Panipat. He is also on board Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. Kapoor last featured in Raj Kumar Gupta’s India’s Most Wanted (2019).
