Popular Celebrities Talks About Seed Bombing To Reclaim Green Spaces
Whenever we hear the word ‘bombing’, the first thing that comes in our mind is fear, terror attacks or destruction. Surprisingly, there are bombs that don’t destroy life but give life. Well, we are talking about the ‘Seed Bombs’, they are the coolest and innovative weapons that can be used to fight deforestation. We got in touch with a few celebrities to know their views on deforestation and seed-bombing.
Bigg Boss 6 winner Urvashi Dholakia, who is best known for her role as Komolika Basu in ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’ said, “With news reports coming in every day about climatic conditions deteriorating, it is clear that we humans cannot take Mother Nature for granted. Just the way when we get hurt and attend to our wounds, the Earth also needs attending too now. By cutting down trees and destroying forests to make a place for the concrete jungle is surely not helping us and it certainly won’t help our future generations to come.”
An actress par excellence further added, “Seed bombs are the best solution as all you need to do is throw these seed bombs where you see any scope for a plant to grow. How difficult is that? In fact, I truly believe that the people making these seed bombs have a lot of work to do, all we need to do is help them turn their hard work into success. Let’s make our world Green, let’s keep the pollution under control, let’s all make way for our future generations to live a good healthy life and provide them clean air. Remember plants are the only source of Oxygen. Need I say more?”
But what are these seed bombs and how can we make them? The angel therapy practitioner Himaanshu Shukla told us, “Seedbombs or seed balls are seeds wrapped up in little nuggets of clay and compost, which acts as a carrier for the seeds and enables them to be launched in areas that are sometimes physically challenging to access like hills and jungles. We need to make dough by mixing a little water in clay and compost, depending on the size of the seed, make small pellets. Push one seed per pellet and dry them in a shady place for 1-2 days. Seed bombing is simple yet one of the best ways that can change the face of the earth.”
He further added,
“I am a green terrorist since I carry bombs that don’t destroy life but give life. Throughout the year, I collect seeds of different flowers, trees like Mango, Amla, Neem, Jackfruit, Tamarind, and Jamun so that I can make hundreds of seed balls during spring and disperse them where ever possible while cruising during Monsoon. Even if one seed germinates, we consider it a win.”
The hazel-eyed heartthrob Harsh Rajput, who is playing the half-devil-half-human in Gul Khan’s popular show Nazar feels seed bombs are the simplest way to avoid deforestation. “I recently came to know about seed bombs from one of my friends. I feel its fantastic idea for growing trees and is the simplest way we can help our environment. I have seen a lot of people throwing trash anywhere. I would request these habitual litterers to throw seed bombs in barren lands or in the jungles. Monsoon is already here in Mumbai and other states are going to witness the rainfall soon, this is the best time for plantation. My request to all my fans and well-wishers to keep seed bombs in their bags, in cars and throw them where ever possible,” Harsh said.
Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who won millions of hearts with her portrayal of Gopi Bahu in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya feels seed bombing is a quite a simple and convenient way to help the environment. “Major tree-planting is required since the deforestation continues at an alarming rate. I agree, sometimes it’s a bit difficult to go and plant the saplings. On the other hand seed bombs, provides an easy way to fight widespread deforestation. I would request my fans to use seed bombs and if you put some love into them before throwing, they are surely going to bloom and spread more love,” says the pretty actress.
Namish Taneja, who did the shows like Swaragini, Ikyawann and Main Maike Chali Jaungi got the flower seed balls last year from one of his friends and decided to drop them in the hills near Lonavala. The dashing actor is planning to do it this time also. “I was not aware about seed bombing until last year. Although making a seed bomb might be a little difficult task, but the results are beautiful. I would request everyone to plant at least 2-3 trees this year, if that’s not possible use the seed bombs,” says the actor.
The actor further added, “I also request honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, to do aerial reforestation at a large scale. It’s high time we need to do surgical strikes to end deforestation.”
