In a world known to be ‘superficial’, beauty has endless perspectives when presented across a television screen! Anmol Rodriguez, a well-known influencer, role model and the runner of an NGO focusing on Acid attack survivors being one herself, has successfully made her debut in a phenomenal short film called Aunty Ji. Alongside talented Shabana Azmi , Anmol showcases sympathetic notion expressed in our daily societies. The film, much like Anmol’s story focuses on struggles of an acid attack survivor within today’s society.
Anmol, known for her inspirational life story commented on her experience working with Shabana Azmi :
“I was nervous as I am starring with Shabanaji and also this is my debut. This means a lot to me as I had never imagined something like this. Each time I shared frames with Shabana ji, I used to get even more nervous. Even though Shabana ji is so senior, she was so supportive and always motivated me. She would give me one jaadu ki jhappi and boost my confidence”.
The film, reflecting on the inspiration and growth of survivors focuses merely on the idea of equal opportunities and being treated as what is perceived as “normal” within a society filled with judgment. It brings awareness to many problems faced within society. Societal perceptions and norms that regulate our daily activities being showcased in the most extraordinary light.
Aunty Ji, sheds light on the beauty behind a character and the endless possibilities that each individual is entitled to regardless of looks or perceptions.
