THE VODACOM DURBAN JULY 2019: STARS OF AFRICA

The Vodacom Durban July 2019 Crown the brown

The Vodacom Durban July 2019. This Saturday, 6th July 2019 saw Durban play host to its 122nd July Handicap. The most anticipated and prestigious social event of the year. The scene was set with spectacular bright and sunny weather. Thrill and excitement of a day out on the picturesque tracks of the Greyville race course and of course. The whose-who of South African elite showing up in high fashion to celebrate this annual event.

Every year, the Durban July is based on a specific theme. All patrons and party go-ers are recommended to draw inspiration from, when picking their all important outfits for the event. This year, the theme was set to be the “STARS OF AFRICA”.

Above all, guests certainly galloped in for the win with their authentic African inspired attire while others fell far behind the track with their choice of ensembles.

Anyone that has attended or heard of the event would tell you how essential it is to dress to the nines in your best gear in order to stand out from the rest at the event. So much emphasis is placed on the outfits that we forget about the horse races. Until of course, our talented local jockeys come galloping along the tracks on their majestic stead’s. Which certainly gets the crowds cheering on for their lucky numbers to jolt through the finish line.

Glitz and Glamour Galore!

This year, Riashri and Reese got to attend this premiere event with a view from the saddle of all the glits and glamour. Without too much horsing around,  embarked on a mission to find the perfect outfits to represent this year’s theme.

Riashri, dressed by the local designer boutique, La Principessa. A stunning ethereal rose gold and black couture gown, complimented with black tassel earrings from Edgars and also a killer pair of heels.

Reese rocked an eclectic two-piece printed track suit from Craig Port (YDE). Commissioning the ever- talented Vanessa Pillay of Hombre menswear to design a statement bright green cape with a peacock feather trim. Finishing off the look with a matching headpiece. A pair of pleather boots from LC Waikiki and tinted shades from Markhams.
