Not for the first time, comedy group All India Bakchod (AIB) has found themselves in hot water for taking potshots at a Bollywood bigwig. The target of their jokes this time around was none other than Karan Johar, with whom they’d previously worked on the controversial AIB Comedy Roast of Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor.
But when it came to his upcoming release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which has been surrounded by controversy since it was announced the film would butt heads at the box office with Ajay Devgan’s Shivaay, Karan didn’t find AIB’s jokes quite so amusing!
The tiff started with AIB posting the following GIF to their Twitter account. Although seemingly innocent, it reignited the fire of the Karan vs. Ajay feud, and from what we hear, the group got a call from Karan himself asked for the post to be removed immediately.
But the squabble didn’t end there! Later that same day, AIB again poked fun at ADHM, this time targeting the film’s music composer, Pritam. After the release of the film’s second track, Bulleya, social media blew up with allegations that the song’s opening riffs had been copied from the Papa Roach song Last Restort. Pritam, who has a long history of lifting music from other artists, made it all too easy for AIB to get a rise out of him this time around as well by posting the following meme to their Twitter account.
Yet again, this earned AIB a stern warning from Karan’s team, and this image was also removed from their social media page.
But, as they say, once something is on the Internet…it’s there forever!
Seeing the images, it’s hard to imagine why Karan would react so strongly to a few harmless jokes. Then again, perhaps they were hitting a little too close to home for Karan’s liking!
