Siya ke Ram's Karthik Jayaram talks about his life and career!

You have recently seen him in the most beautifully portrayed show called “Siya Ke Ram” on Star Plus, and now he’s here to talk us about his life and career. Check out the interview with Karthik Jayaram or some of you know him as his character in the show “Ravan” as he tell us about his life and career.

How does it feel to play the character “Ravan”?

It feels great to play Raavan as it is one of the best antagonist character in the world history and I feel blessed to play Raavan.

Did you do any research before taking this role?

Well, I had to know the characteristics of Raavan, so went through few books like Asura, Raavan, etc. But I worked a lot to create a unique mannerism of Raavan. I used to act in front of the mirror for facial expressions. I also read more of Hindi so that I could understand the language better. I also Took few basic classes of tandav.

“Ravan” is known to be an iconic character. Was the previous Ramayan on your mind when taking the role?

Previous Ramayan didn’t push me taking up this role but the Raavan character encouraged me taking up the role.

How do you relate to the character of “Ravan”?

I feel every individual has good and bad characteristics. The situation makes them react. So sometimes I do get ego issues, I do become arrogant, best characteristic of Raavan is being “Larger than Life”.

How much time did it take for the transition to happen from Karthik to Ravan?

Well, it’s really difficult to come out of the character. I guess when I sleep I am out of it.

What has been the best compliment you have gotten ever since you have taken the role?

The best compliment is that people have accepted me as a perfect Raavan which means I have done justice, also when maximum people say I am a cute Raavan.

How has life changed with the success of Siya Ke Ram?

Well, Siya Ke Ram has given me global recognition. So I feel it’s a leap to my future opportunities.

What have you learnt from the show?

I have learnt a lot from the show. Acting, knowledge about Ramayan, morals, passion towards the craft

How is the bonding with Ashish Sharma going who plays Ram?

Ashish is a professional guy who is friendly and has been really sweet to me. Sometimes we work out together too.

How does it feel to live in Hyderabad?

Well, to be frank, it’s only shooting on Ramoji, nothing else.

Where is your hometown?

My hometown is Bangalore and I miss it.

Describe an interesting fan experience you have come across so far?

Crazy kid fan from the US called to listen to Raavan’s laughing and she was fond of me. And a wonderful fan has erected a huge Raavan’s hoarding in front of my house and that was a surprise.

How would you describe your experience working with Nikhil Sinha and Sohaana Sinha?

Nikhil Sinha is a passionate director and producer made me very comfortable as this was my first Hindi TV show. I learnt a lot from him and I am grateful to him for giving me the opportunity. Sohaana Sinha has been a wonderful person and has taken care of the Raavan’s look and character very well. I am lucky to have such professional people as my producers.

When was the time when you were completely lost in your profession?

The best one was the initial scene when I enter Swayamvar where I had 4 pages of lengthy dialogues and I had worked for non-stop 80 hours.
