Bollywood’s favorite method actor Randeep Hooda has been pulling out all the stops while preparing for his upcoming film Sarbjit, Omung Kumar’s biopic on the life of slain prisoner Sarbjit Singh. While Randeep left many speechless with his first look of the film, which included a dramatic weight loss, the actor hasn’t stopped at just resembling the titular character! Now we’ve learned that he’s even studying ‘akhadaa’ moves for a wrestling sequence in the film!
A source from the Sarbjit set has spilled all the details, saying that while shooting for the ‘akhadaa’ sequence in Punjab, Randeep paid close attention to the exact techniques used in this traditional Indian wrestling form, even taking tips from villagers who play akhadaa in order to make the sequence look as authentic as possible.
Says the source:
“Randeep was all in for this sequence as it involved performing some ‘Kushti’ moves. He had to learn some moves to do justice to the scene, for which he was all prepared and took it as a challenge to master it. The local people themselves tutored him through the moves and were amazed to see him do it in no time, for which he was appreciated by them. It was a fun sequence to shoot for the whole cast and crew who were present.”
And that’s not all! The source adds that Randeep also had the opportunity to talk to villagers who knew Sarbjit, who gave him previously unknown facts about the late farmer’s life. It was Randeep’s way of studying his character and getting to know him in depth.
With his hard work and attention to detail, we’re sure that Randeep is leaving no stone unturned to make sure this is his most impressive performance yet!
Sarbjit, which also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Richa Chaddha, is set to release on May 20, 2016.
