Ace designer Anavila Misra showcased her Autumn Winter’16 collection at the FDCI Amazon India Fashion Week yesterday. Her collection ‘Folk’ once upon a time, is inspired by an eternal free spirited muse, much like Anavila’s beloved sari- earthy and ethereal. Known for her work in pure, luxurious and sustainable textiles, the designer marked another milestone at her first ever solo show at the capital.
This beautiful journey through time, across time was brought to life by models displaying gorgeous drapes of lotus yarn with linen, handwoven fine wool blended with premium silk making for beautiful options for a range of winter sarees.
The ramp was taken over by earthy hues of woody browns, brick, wine, teals, olives and sap greens. Classy drapes exuding a rustic restrained beauty were the highlight of the show. The extensive use of pleating gave the collection a young and playful appeal.
The tapestries of the bohemian vibes of the Ikat, the mani-layered tales of the sujni and the raw beauty of hand block prints pay an ode to the indigenous Indian craftsmanship. The exquisitely timeless ensembles showcased a raw sense of grandeur epitomizing the elegance of sustainable fashion.
The show was a spectacle for the senses as a live orchestra brought the gorgeous ensembles to life. The wooden ramp and theatre like composition of the venue kept the audience spellbound.
