The ’80s and ’90s were probably one of the most memorable eras of Bollywood as some of the top actors and actresses broke out into the world of film then. Actress Amrita Singh was most popular in the ’80s and early ’90s doing some lead roles, but she also wasn’t afraid to do interesting negative roles too! Amrita made her debut in 1983 with Betaab opposite Sunny Deol, and there was no turning back. She had a series of hits in the ’80s and proved herself as a powerful actress. For her role in Aaina (1993), Amrita even won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award! In 1991, she married actor Saif Ali Khan in an Islamic wedding ceremony and converted to Islam before marriage. Although he was 12 years younger than her, the two fell in love and ended up marrying in secret as the families did not approve of the wedding. She gave up making movies in 1993 to focus on her family life. Saif and Amrita have two children, a daughter named Sara Ali Khan (born September 1993) and a son named Ibrahim Ali Khan (born October 2001). Sadly, her marriage to Saif ended in 2004 and he is now married to Kareena Kapoor. On the plus side, since 2002, Amrita’s been making films again!
