The hunky star has been holding garage sales for the ShirtOff Foundation to raise money to support the education of a girl-child who had lost her parents to HIV. The campaign has him selling T-shirts he wore in his films at charity garage sales. And the actor had one such sale recently in Hyderabad where he sold his shirts from his latest hit Sanam Teri Kasam and managed to single-handedly raise close to Rs Two lakhs and still counting through online sales.
Elaborating about the charity event, Harsha shares that his fans buy his shirts on sale and pose with him holding placards that read ‘Took my #ShirtOff’ while some choose to simply contribute. Talking about this unique initiative, Harshvardhan says that he is humbled by the support his fans have shown him over the years.
“Every contribution no matter how big or small, go a long way in helping Swati,” he says.
Point out the fact that his latest STK seems to have hit home with his fans in South too what with the heavy turnout and he says that the response has been overwhelming across.
“I was so touched to see that there were women who had actually flown down all the way from Mumbai to attend the sale in Hyderabad. I am happy that they have liked my work and happier that through my work I am able to reach out to so many of them who want to help for a good cause,”
adds Harshvardhan, who has also been an active Peta supporter.
Well, the actor may look all brawn, but looks like beyond the hunky surface lies a soft-heart who is always up to support a noble cause.
