Incredible contribution to Indian television, the trademark cute smile and a twinkle in the eyes are just some words to describe Pankit Thakker.His upcoming show, Bahu Hamari Rajni_Kant is a biggie that everyone is looking forward to. Much like his previous youth show, this one is also a trendsetter.
When ‘Dill Mill Gayye’ was telecast, it ended up not only breaking the tv records and giving youth audience a love story for their entire lives but also took trends up a notch; even in fashion. From Armaan’s shirts to Atul’s bicycle and his affection for plants Dill Mill Gayye became a trendsetter in itself.
While speaking to Urban Asian, Pankit shared his perspective on what can be expected to wow the fashionistas this time.
“I think it’s not tv serials that set the trends, but it’s the audience. Nobody can predict what people would catch from the show before it actually releases. Who likes what, can only be commented on after the telecast of a tv show. When people like serials, a lot of things end up becoming trends which we never think about.”
As for ‘Bahu Hamari Rajni_Kant’, Pankit believes that it’s a very commercial, in-your-face series that people might actually refer to it as ‘time pass.’ According to the ‘love hero’ of television , anything can strike a chord with the audience including funny one liners or the expensive dresses of the girls.
Pankit further said that when he delivered the dialogue “bahut lambi lag rahi ho Anjali; heels pehen ke aayi ho kya”, the Dill Mill Gayye director thought it was really weird. But the fact that people remember it 7 years down the line is something Pankit is really happy about.
“In the end, epic-ness, greatness of anything is created by the audience”
, he added
Referring to the dialogue “yeh toh wohi baat ho gayi; 100 pani puri kha ke ladki chat pe chali gayi.” For the upcoming show, he said,
“Our show has a lot of moments that have potential to become trend setters. When we shot for the Holi sequences for ‘Dill Mill Gayye’, we didn’t think it was going to be epic, in fact we never planned anything during the shoot. It just happened.”
Breaking the barriers of space and time, Dill Mill Gayye’s fan base extends not only to the remotest corners in India but also overseas. Pankit, who has never visited Romania said he would love to visit the country for it has the maximum number of female fan following that I have.
Elaborating on what might interest the audience in this new show; he added,
“Mostly people will like the love story and comedy tone of the show. Moreover, our show is amazingly colorful, sometimes more than colorful-colorful.”
