Wonderfully Directed
Director Vinil Mathew did a brilliant job of bringing all the characters of the film to life while making them realistic and relate-able. From the moment the curtains raise on the film to the moment the credits role, the audience was engaged in the world which Vinil Mathew created. Whether it was the father of the bride, the confused groom, the bride or her quirky sister, there was at least one person the audience could relate to.
Nobody Knows Nikhil But Everybody Knows Sidharth
Post the success of his first film, Sidharth Malhotra was out to prove he isn’t just a one hit wonder. Whether it be the awe striking Abhimanyu in Student of the Year to the Nobody Knows Nikhil we see in Hasee Toh Phasee, Sidharth Malhotra proved that he can master any role given to him. His not so heroic character won hearts by proving even heroes have flaws.
Not Your Average Pari
Bollywood often showcases their romantic heroines as being flawless glam dolls but with Meeta, Parineeti Chopra redefined the word heroine. The actress did justice to the role of the quirky, tomboyish science nerd that Meeta was to the point that audiences were convinced that no one could have done a better job. And let’s not forget the famous ‘sarsarat, kapkapahat wali feelings’ she described so well!
The Music
Musical maestros Vishal-Shekhar along with Amar Mangrulkar nailed it with this one! A complete Valentine’s Day package, the entire soundtrack had a song for those in love, those who just had their heart broken and those who simply love to celebrate love. Even two years later, each song continues to be a fan favorite and may just continue to be a decade from today.
The Legacy
In the history of Bollywood romance other film has been celebrated the way Hasee Toh Phasee has. Sure there has been 20 years of DDLJ, 15 years of K3G but which film do you know of has proudly trended in just two years? While audiences continue to romance the age old definition of Bollywood love, most would say its time for a new romance!
