What makes Bahu Hamari Rajnikant so special?

For starters it is a Star Network show. To add to that, it’s a Sonali Jaffar and Amir Jaffar production. As audiences may be aware Sonali Jaffar is a prolific writer with a proven record of churning out good shows as a writer and with her as a leader of the pack the team is in safe hands. Apart from that it is a genre which has Indian values with sci-fi twist, a genre which has never been attempted as a daily soap on Indian TV. It is a complete family entertainer where everyone will have their favorite characters to pick and get hooked to and kids are going to just love love love it.

Tell us something about your character.

I am the youngest of the three brothers in the family. My character is funny, cute romantic and adorable with a whacky sense of comic timing. He is madly in love with my wife.

With this show, writer Sonali Jaffar and her husband Amir Jaffar are turning producers. Tell us something about them.

Television is in the phase of redefining itself as the viewers expect more from the shows they watch. It is a new Tellywood. Audience is waiting for television to redefine itself. We should incorporate the intelligence of audience. I feel writer/producers like Amir Jaffar and Sonali Jaffar will take it in a different direction. Sonali Jaffar is a very sensitive person and that’s what shows in the work she has done in past.

Amir Jaffar on his part has been very vocal about him liking my work so all in all it is a great opportunity and I consider myself lucky to be a part of their debut production. I have a lot of respect for them and I have a gut feel that we will do much more path breaking work together in the coming years.

After your last show as a lead where u played a triple role what prompted you to take up a show with an ensemble cast?

I have always believed in taking every step carefully. Quality has always been something precious for me.The role that has been offered to me is a very integral part of the story. The producers and the channel have a lot of expectations from my role and they have invested a lot in this character and I am happy that they chose me to play this role. The biggest motivating factor for me as an actor is their faith in my ability to deliver what is expected. It is a great feeling to know that you are wanted and that producers depend on you to deliver the goods. I have always thought of myself as an actor who goes by the merit of a role and how much the role challenges the actor in me. I am a hungry actor like I always say, almost like a hungry tiger. I would have been nowhere if I had lost my hunger and madness. I hope to keep this spirit alive till the very end and hope to make the best of every role I accept.

How does it feel to be cast for a Star Network show again?

Luckily I have been consistently offered path breaking roles on Star Network, it is the no.1 network so when you get a chance to work with star, you want to make it as memorable as possible. It was exciting to work in all the star serials like Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli, Kumkum, India Calling, Special Squad, Dill Mill Gayye, and I am happy to be a part of yet another star show. Star Network has played an integral part in shaping my career. I just hope it does well. I hope people appreciate it.
