Kunal Kapoor in 2 times National award winning director Jayaraj’s next

Kunal Kapoor who is much known for his phenomenal acting prowess and his choice of intense characters will now be seen in a completely new and a different avatar. The actor has been appreciated for his performances in various films like Meenaxi, Rang De Basanti, Laga Chunari Mein Dag, Kaun Kitne Paani Mein, etc. but this time we will see him in a shining warrior’s armor with some power-packed action sequences for the first time, which is poles apart from the characters he has played in his previous stints.

The entrepreneur-actor who has laid his foot very gracefully in films, theatre and the business world is now extending his horizon to down south as he bags a film with the two times National Award winning director, Jayaraj, for his next named ‘Veeram’. It will be a trilingual film (Hindi, English and Malyalam) and will be based on the fifth Rasa (Veeram)

After the much-admired Ottal, the national award-winning director’s movie will be an adaption of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The movie will have the North Malabar setting and the makers will take inspiration from its Ballads, the Vadakkan Pattukal. Actor Kunal will be donning the role of Chandu Chekavar, the infamous hero of the stories in the Ballads.

According to sources, Kunal has been very dedicated towards this project and is taking utmost interest in detailing and making himself work towards doing justice to his character. Martial expert Shivakumar Gurukkal who is training the actor for the role said,

“Kunal has been taking training in Kalaripayattu for the past four months. It is not easy for him, but he has been showing great enthusiasm and putting in a lot of effort. He is picking it up well and his background in theatre is helping him”.

The film goes on floor from 5th of January 2016, in Cochin and they then move to Agra for the next schedule.
