Dhanush goes to Hollywood

It’s official, South Indian actor Dhanush is headed to Hollywood! The actor and singer has bagged a lead role opposite Uma Thurman in the a movie adaptation of the French best-seller “The Extraordinary Journey Of the Fakir Who Got Trapped In The Ikea Cupboard,” by Romain Puértolas.

Highly celebrated Iranian writer and director, Marjane Satrapi will be directing this film. According to Times of India, when speaking about why she chose Dhanush for the role, Satrapi said,

“As I was watching various Indian movies, Dhanush became the most obvious choice — his intelligence, his killer smile, his ability to enter fully into the skin of any character he played (and I can go on and on forever) made me confident that he was the one.”

Dhanush will play the role of a fakir named Ajatashatru Oghash Rathod, a conjurer from a lost colony of Indian artists, sent to Paris on a mysterious mission by his mother. The film will begin shooting mid-2016 in possible locations like India, Paris, Morocco and Italy! The “Why This Kolaveri Di” singer was last seen in Shamitabh with legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and will be releasing 3 Tamil films this year including Kodi, Rati and Vada Chennai.

With actors like Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, and Om Puri who have successfully crossed over to Hollywood we can’t wait to see what dhamaka Dhanush will do!
