7 Relatable Simran Moments from DDLJ! #20YearsOfDDLJ

1. Privacy Is An Illusion

Every girl still living at home with her parents knows that ‘privacy’ is not typically a word in their dictionary. What’s theirs is theirs; what’s yours is also theirs. Fortunately for Simran, Mama Singh was super chill about her daughter’s lusty diary entries. We should all be so lucky, right? Then again, Simran’s dad DID pack up their whole family and move back to India when he happened to overhear that his daughter had fallen for a guy while on a European vacation (really, what did he expect?!)…a bit of an overreaction, don’t you think?

2. Towel Karaoke

Is there any girl alive who hasn’t showered with the intention of doing something productive, then proceeded to sit around in her towel for half the day checking her Facebook, texting her friends, updating her blog, and singing into her hairbrush to the musical stylings of One Direction? For as unrealistic as people claim Bollywood music numbers are, Mere Khwabon Mein is a scene straight out of my life and the lives of pretty much every girl I know, except we don’t look nearly gorgeous dancing around our rooms in our towels as Simran Singh does!

3. Creep Magnet

Sometimes a girl just wants to sit on a train and read a good book, not be creeped on by some floppy-haired guy with no sense of personal space.  Sure, Raj ended up being the love of her life…but how often does THAT happen?

4. Green With Envy

It’s a tale as old as time. Boy meets girl. Girl hates boy. Boy flirts with girl’s friend. Despite her complete and utter annoyance with boy, girl finds herself fuming every time boy shares oxygen with anyone else.

5. She Can’t Hold Her Liquor

Being well-behaved can be downright exhausting. Every girl has to let her hair down now and again! But unfortunately for girls like Simran, good behavior is often inversely proportional to alcohol tolerance. The better the night, the more lethal the hangover!

6. She Never Lets The Weather Kill Her Fashion Game

Is she dancing to keep her blood circulating? Probably, but that doesn’t mean she’s gonna let a little snowfall keep her from looking cute! We’ve all suffered in the name of beauty, right? And they call women the weaker sex!

7. She’s A Bit Of A Drama Queen

We girls tend to jump to the worst possible conclusions. But contrary to popular belief, we weren’t born overdramatic…boys have made us this way! If Simran flips out occasionally, it’s only because she’s about to be married off to a complete stranger while Raj is busy flirting with aunties and feeding birds with Papa Singh. What’s a girl to do?!
