#13DaysofCreepyCreepers Day 7: Stalked on the train

This Sunday is Day 7 of our #13DaysofCreepyCreepers! Today’s story is from my High School days. I went to a very good high school that was, unfortunately, quite far from home. I had to spend over an hour on buses and trains to get to school every day. During my Sophomore year of high school I noticed this older, hispanic looking man who would watch me.

As days passed by I noticed that he was there everyday, waiting on the platform. One day I took a different staircase to the platform so that I would end up farther from where I usually waited on the platform. I saw him waiting, I hopped on the train but he even missed the train waiting for me! I knew he was waiting for me because when he saw me on the train when it sped by him his eyes lit up with recognition and he looked like he was cursing.

Well then…

The next day he was walking up and down the platform for me! Once on the train he would try to stand as close to me as possible and he got off 2 stops before me. Just my luck, he was probably going the same direction as me anyway. For 2 years he followed me to school, trying to get closer to me. He would sit next to me, try to rub up next to me while standing, he’d inch his hand closer to mine, he’d whisper things in Spanish that I didn’t understand. Things were highly uncomfortable but I didn’t think he was dangerous, just an eager creep.

I finally told a guy friend of mine who then refused to leave me alone on the train. He started holding my hand, sitting next to me, or standing next to me to scare away the creeper. It did help that my friend was a big, tall, intimidating looking guy.

Being followed for 2 years is nothing to ignore. I felt very uncomfortable and it was something I would fear every day. I had to find elaborate ways to avoid this man, I shouldn’t have to do things like that. No girl should have to change her daily routine to avoid someone drooling all over her. Stay strong ladies!
