Under the guidance and on behest of the Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, The India Today group roped in India’s celebrated Pop Icon, Daler Mehndi to partake in the PM’s ongoing cleanliness campaign famously known as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Daler Mehndi who had single handedly started the Clean and green drive in 1998 and has to his credit a plantation of over 8,00,000 trees in and around the National Capital Territory Region of Delhi, keenly penned the lyrics and composed the song ‘Safai Ki Dhun’ for spreading awareness. Beyond the exuberant sense of style, the fiery passion for music, is a man who has an arduous zeal for environment, a philanthropist to the core, and deeply spiritual at heart. Daler Mehndi is a man with two missions – To spread love and humanity through his music- universally and to promote ecological/environmental awareness and promote wellness through his Daler Mehndi Green Drive.

Daler authored the words and composed the song to the traditional beats of Pashto. Safai Ki Dhun has the iconic Daler Mehndi music, both peppy and dancing. The anthem is being aired on Aaj Tak leading to the Safaigiri Summit being held on October 2, 2015 to felicitate the winners of the Cleanliness Drive where the ones who keep India Clean will be nominated by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.
