Soltee by Sulakshana Monga creates a buzz at BMW India Bridal Fashion Week 2015!

Indian designer Sulakshana Monga impressed and created a buzz with the presentation of her latest couture collection as part of BMW India Bridal Fashion Week at DLF Emporio, New Delhi.

The collections theme is based off heritage revival and paying tribute to the region of Bareilly. Sulakshana has honored the heritage of Indian artwork and technique in her most recent collection under her label, Soltee, by reviving and reworking the designs of Zardozi handwork. The modern day tribute to 1920’s Bareilly craft and design has been inspired by the region’s regal interiors and vintage craftsmanship, translated to contemporary silhouettes.

A month ago, the designer traveled to Banaras, Bareilly, and Lucknow in search of inspiration for her 2015 couture collection. She was in awe by Bareilly embroiderers and, as a tribute to them, honored the heritage of Indian artwork and technique, reviving and reworking the designs of the late Zardozi handwork in a modern-day tribute!

Sulakshana’s lauded designs transcend the boundaries of seasonal trends in favor of an experimentation with aesthetics-masterpieces sought after by Indian fashion influence’s and taste-makers across the globe. High profile clients include Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Ileana D’Cruz and Sunny Leone, and others. Sulakshana has been the recipient of coveted accolades including the Shama Prasad Mukherjee Award in the field of Art and the Bharat Gaurav Award in 2014.
