Wishing India a Happy Independence Day! While Pakistani Independence Day is on the 14th, Indian Independence Day is celebrated August 15th. To celebrate the day, I’ve made a countdown of the top 10 patriotic songs produced in India in honor of the country. Although independence day is the day India was liberated from British rule, it is sad how tensions and discord has arisen with Pakistan. I truly hope the two countries can become friends and realize they ultimately came from one. I am reminded of the poem by Rabindranath Tagore (Gitanjali) – “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; Where knowledge is free; Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by domestic walls; Where words come out from the depth of truth; Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection; Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit; Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action– Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake.”
Here’s wishing everlasting peace and happiness in India and between India-Pakistan! Enjoy the countdown!
