Over the last couple years, the Marathi film industry has been growing. The national award winning composer Amit Trivedi, who has given us countless melodies in Bollywood (for example, the Dev D soundtrack and the flawless song Iktara), has made his Marathi industry debut with the Umesh Kulkarni film Highway. The ace composer has recorded a song for the film with singers Benny Dayal and Shalmali Kokghade, naming it “Highway Re“. As for the film, it boasts of a unique cast with both Huma Qureshi and Tisca Chopra doing a Marathi film for the first time! An interesting fact for our readers – although “Highway” is considered Trivedi’s Marathi music composer debut, 11 years ago, he had arranged music for friend Amartya Rahut’s Marathi “Uttarayan!” Seems the Marathi connection has stayed strong for Trivedi!
