upcoming film at IFFSA (International Film Festival of South Asia)
Writer Aaryaan Saxena is on a high these days. The popular writer who
has penned down the screenplay for Mickey Virus and
Story/Screenplay/Dialogues for Desi Kattey is bracing himself for his
upcoming movie, Saavi – A Bonded Bride. The film has been showcased at
IFFSA and received a tremendous response. The movie is helmed by
national award winning director Rajeev Kumar.
Aaryaan Saxena has high hopes as Saavi touches the sensitive issue of
barter system for women, which is still prevalent in certain
communities in the Chamba area of Himachal Pradesh. Response he is
getting is amazing.
It showcases that the medieval ideologies still exist in India, and
how blind faith embellished with hierarchical practices still have a
way of running in the nation. The objectification of female has been
going on for centuries in the country and the movie tries to show how
even during the wake of education, we are still chained by our blind
ancestral practices.
Saavi is one of the six best Punjabi plays of the last 65 years.
