After Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahanii, Jeanie Aur Juju, and 24, yet another western show is about to be remade in India. Sony Entertainment Television, in association with Pakistan’s Ary News and Lost Boy Productions, is all set to bring Game of Thrones to India.
The series titled Rani Mahal, will follow George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire which is the first installment of the Game of Thrones. According to sources, unlike the original, Rani Mahal will be a female-centric show with the backdrop of The Sepoy Mutiny of 1857.
While the course of the show is undecided, it has been confirmed that Balaji’s reigning queen Sakshi Tanwar is set to take on the role of Daenerys Targaryen, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’s vicious Shagun, Anita Hassanandani will be seen as Cersei Lannister, and MTV’s heartthrob Parth Samthaan is essaying Jon Snow.
It also turns out that Natalia Tena and Daniel Portman of Game of Thrones will be in India for the comic con this year! I wonder what they will think of this remake!
