Gunjan Utreja

We hear you’ve got quite the travel bug! What is your favorite place to visit and why?

Every place has its own charm and the fact that all of them are different from each other makes them special. Be it Amsterdam, Venice, Bangkok or New York, etc. All these places have so much to offer that it’s very difficult to have a favorite. But yes New York is surely on the top of list. Also I have never been to London and Tampa Bay but have both these places are on my schedule in 2015.

What do you most enjoy about your travel diaries?

I am living a dream life. My life is a paid holiday. The fact that I am traveling around the globe to entertain lovely people is a high in itself. I get to meet so many people and hear such wonderful stories. And food is definitely a bonus.

What is one place you hope to travel to in the next five years?

I would love to travel to the moon. I have heard that by 2020 they will make it accessible. The way science is progressing; you never know we might have a Bollywood award ceremony at moon soon.

Of all the characters you’ve played, which one has been your favorite?

It has to be the lead role of Abhay Kapoor in the second season of Madhubala on Colors.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being an actor?

Apart from the fame and love you receive from your fans, the most gratifying moment is to transform the hard work of 100 of people who work behind the camera to make a story come alive on to a screen. It’s a huge responsibility and I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of this great institution.

What was it like hosting the red carpet of the Star Guild Awards?

It was a great experience. I used to host a Bollywood talk show so it wasn’t something new for me. The only challenge here was to create entertaining content in a span of few minutes which was impromptu. I am glad I was able to do that and the actors had a great time. I am sure the audience loved it too.

If you had to pick between acting and anchoring which would it be?

Anchoring is my first love but I would rather be known as an entertainer than an actor or anchor. They all are an extension of who I am.

If you could go back in time and interview any historical figure who would it be and what would you ask them?

I would love to meet Charlie Chaplin and would love to know how he prepares for his roles. For me he is one of the top 5 actors of all times.

Of the co-stars you’ve worked with into the past, with whom are you close to?

I am very close to Priya Ahuja Rajda, my first co-star, and the credit goes to her for this. Every day she sends me a bunch of crazy jokes. Thanks to her I now have another brother (her husband Maalav). She is a bundle of energy and my dose of gossip as well.

What is your message for your fans?
I want to thank each one of them for their unconditional love and support.I always say that we have one life; make it worth a blockbuster movie. Dream big, work hard.
