6 Ways to beat the winter!

It’s been a grueling winter for Americans in the North East so us New Yorkers want to share our tips and tricks for how we beat the winter!

1. Hot chocolate!
Hot chocolate is not just for Christmastime guys, hot chocolate is love filled beverage that you can enjoy anytime of the year. A nice cup of sweet hot chocolate is sure to keep you happy and warm this winter so make a cup and be sure to share with your family!

2. Read those books you never had time to!
With all this free time being trapped indoors pick up a book! It’s a good way to delve into your imagination and get away from the cold. Books can take you anywhere, bring you joy, peace of mind and help you learn.

3. Try a light box therapy
Light helps regulate the natural rhythms of our body and mind, during the winter we don’t get enough light which makes us feel groggy and tired. Light boxes mimic daylight and it is actually an effective treatment to the dark short days of winter. It helps to reduce Sit by the light box for at least 30 minutes a day, soak in the rays as you go about your day.

4. Don’t want to invest in a light box? Try sitting near the windows!
Don’t close the blinds and hit Netflix, grab a book, push that chair by the window, cuddle under a blanket and relax! Light, especially natural light helps to keep you positive

5. Don’t forget to work out!
We know it’s cold and you’re too lazy to head out to the gym (blame the lack of light) but really push yourself to work out even if it is at home. Any type of exercise you can get in try to because it will help you maintain energy throughout the day.

6. Lastly, don’t forget to see your best friends!
We know it’s cold and you don’t want to go outside but at least attempt to make plans and see your friends once in a while this winter. It gives you a reason to get out of the house even if you guys are hitting up the local bar for happy hour or the movie theater. Socializing will keep your spirits up in this dreary winter.
