"Sher Punjabi" G-Deep Returns!

New York’s very own G-Deep is set to return this October for the release of his long awaited bhangra album ‘The Sher Punjabi Returns’ – set to release worldwide in only four days on 10th November.  We’ve been following his career closely at Urban Asian.  He made his debut in 2008 with the album “Sher Punjabi” that was picked up by the Indian label Times Music.  This made him the first artist from the United States to be signed to Times Music.  In 2011 he had released his first Hindi album, “O Billo” (see review here).

Born in Punjab, but raised in New York, G-Deep is one of the most talented Punjabi exports from North America.  A singer, writer, composer, and music producer, G-Deep lives and breathes music!  He has managed to stay true to his Indian roots, while living here in the United States.  Not content with making big waves in India, G-Deep has also become the first South-Asian artist to collaborate with two hip-hip legends  — Havoc (Mobb Deep) and Cappadonna (Wu Tang Clan) – both singles featured on G-Deep’s Hindi album ‘O Billo‘ (see review here).

G-Deep has focused on his solo albums, but has also composed soundtracks for films.  2014 kicked off with two PTC Punjabi Film Award nominations for G-Deep, for best Music director and best song ‘O Dekh Hassena‘ from the movie Naughty Jatts, a film starring Neeru Bajwa, Aarya Babbar and others.  After successfully performing on the soundtrack for ‘Naughty Jatts‘, G-Deep was roped in by the directors of the hit Punjabi film ‘RSVP‘ to write, produce, and sing for the film. ‘RSVP‘ featured Neeru Bajwa, Harish Verma and Guggu Gill.

He has obviously been keeping very busy musically, but finally fans can rejoice because G-Deep is ready to release his long awaited solo Punjabi album: ‘The Sher Punjabi Returns‘. The 11 track album, all written by G-Deep, features production from USA, UK and India, giving the album a true global feel. Producers on the album are: Real G productions, Paivy, Jus Ritz UK, Ranbir S and Sahil Sharma.

The album will be releasing on 10th November via Amar Audio/Mad 4 Music and Real G Productions.
