Fall is here and with it comes Pumpkins! From Jack-o-lanterns, to Pumpkin pie and everyone’s favorite drink, Pumpkin Spice Latte’s, Pumpkins are everywhere! But you’ll be surprised to know that latte’s and pies are the only things pumpkins are good for. This fall trend is actually good for your health!  1. Pumpkins keep your cholesterol low!

Recent studies have shown consuming pumpkin seed oil daily increases HDL, “good” cholesterol, decreases diastolic blood pressure, less headaches, less joint pain and a decrease in hot flashes in older woman. Researchers believe that phytoestrogens in pumpkin oil could be what reduces cardiovascular issues linked with the drop in estrogen levels after menopause.

2. Pumpkin seed oil can reduce hair loss (especially in males)

A possible explanation is that Pumpkin seed oil may block the action of 5-alpha reductase, a chemical involved in the production of testosterone, one of the key hormonal culprits behind male pattern baldness, the scientists say.

3. Pumpkin seeds can reduce the risk of breast cancer

Pumpkin seeds contain lignans (a type of plant-based estrogen), as well as alpha linoleic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid), both of which may help shield against breast cancer. And it’s not just your chest that pumpkin protects: The autumn staple has also been linked to a reduced risk of gastric, lung, and colorectal cancers, according to an Indian study review.

4. Pumpkin can control blood sugar

Pumpkin has been shown to lower the blood sugar of people with type 2 diabetes, research has shown that Pumpkin may encourage the release of insulin, although the mechanism of its magic still isn’t clear it looks like it’s been working well!
