Rani Mukherjee’s female empowering role as a cop in Mardaani was sure to beat out Emraan Hashmi as con-man Raja Natwarlal at the Box Office last weekend. Hasmi’s film only raked in Rs. 6.10 crores on its first day and although there was hope that things might pick up during the weekend but unfortunately Mardaani took over the box office.
The film collected Rs. 5.15 crores on Saturday and Rs. 6.15 crores on Sunday. It is clear that Raja Natwarlal has failed to impress audiences and the competition from Mardaani has really crushed sales. The lack of any other big release and the fact that everyone’s chatting about Rani Mukherjee’s performance has drawn in quite the crowd for Mardaani showings. The film has so far collected Rs. 33.97 crores worldwide!
Both films only have a few more days until big hits like Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom releases!
