Actor Sidharth Malhotra, who made his Bollywood debut in 2012’s ‘Student Of The Year’ (SOTY) with Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, doesn’t see them as competitors. In fact, the ‘Ek Villain’ actor wishes them luck for their forthcoming film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’! The 29-year-old was mentored in his first film by Karan Johar along with Alia and Varun and all three have tasted success since their debut film together.
When Sidharth was asked about competing with his SOTY co-actors he said in an interview,
“Me, Alia and Varun feel like we’ve gone to school together. Why would we compete among ourselves when there’s so much! We have different and unique styles and films. It’s tough to make friends in the industry. We all have… I want to see ‘Humpty…’ I’ve heard Alia’s song recently and she has sung really well. She has a great voice. I hope it’s a big success.”
On the other hand, going by the box office collection of ‘Ek Villain’, it seems that the audiences have accepted Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh as the new on-screen baddies! News is that the movie, which also stars Shradhha Kapoor, has minted over Rs.77 crore in the first week.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted announcing the news, “#EkVillain Wknd 50.70 cr, Mon 8.10 cr, Tue 6.80 cr, Wed 6.40 cr, Thu 5.20 cr. Total: (Rs.) 77.20 cr nett. 2nd HIGHEST Week 1 of 2014. SUPERB!”
