The Annual Aquarius Charity Affair came back better than ever for its 7th year. Despite the polar vortex, hundreds of party goers braved the storm to venture over to Lexicon in New York City.
Raj Jhaveri, the founder of this annual affair, chose “Digital Sophistication” as this year’s theme and created the hashtag #7ACA2014 to live stream tweets, status updates and Instagram pictures at the venue. This year’s charities were Action Against Hunger to benefit those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, as well as Give2Heal. The event was completely free for everyone and generated its fundraising revenue through bar sales and donations.
Co-hosting with Raj this year were singer Shilpa Narayan, American Idol finalist Anoop Desai, and all of us at Urban Asian! Sponsors for the evening included Canopy Apps, Cosh NYC, Bright Beginnings Academy, Transcendent Endeavors, and The Cake Designer. Highlights from the evening included a performance from Shilpa Narayan, a red carpet press photoshoot, chocolate covered strawberries from Laurentino’s Pasticceria Caffé, and mini eggless cupcakes sponsored by The Cake Designer. DJ Bornswift, DJ Ash G, and DJ Ambition took turns spinning and kept everyone dancing all night!
