Share and Care launches series of Fall Fundraisers for Women, Empowerment, Health and Education!

Urban Asian is all about helping out the need! A new event hits the city with an organization called Share and Care, a New Jersey based nonprofit organization announces a series of fundraising events for Fall 2013. Share and Care’s mission is to create opportunities for deserving, economically challenged women and children of India. Partnering with communities, philanthropists and local charitable organizations, Share and Care will be hosting events in the Tri State area to raise funds for various causes such as healthcare, women’s empowerment, and education.

The Fall fundraising series of events kicks off with the annual Share and Care gala featuring a tribute concert for legendary Indian singer Kishore Kumar. The concert titled, Do Kishore will be a musical extravaganza with performances by his sons, Amit Kumar and Sumeet Kumar. The concert will be held at NJPAC (New Jersey Performing Arts Center) on Saturday, September 28th. The funds from this concert will directly go towards Share and Care’s women’s empowerment initiatives.

Following the concert, on October 6th, Share and Care will host an exclusive Art and Photography Show in Manhattan. The evening will feature the works of Shailja Gupta, Shreya Mehta, Kartik Trivedi, Jayant Shroff, Rohini Zutshi, Geeta Acharya, Lucy Winton, Samita Bhatia, Juhi Awasthi, Preya Patel and photographs by Dr Ramesh Patwa. Shailja Gupta will be autographing purchased pieces from her collection 100 Years Of Bollywood, while Dr. Ramesh Patwa will also be signing his limited edition coffee table book. Funds from this evening will benefit Share and Care’s Healthcare to the Unreached (H2U) program.

Another exciting event lined up for October is the Casino for a Cause night to be held on October 12th in Long Island. Guests will have an opportunity to participate in casino like games and play for the charity. Funds from this evening will help support Share and Care’s signature program (E2G) Educate to Graduate. E2G transform the lives of bright students by providing financial assistance in the form of a Loan Scholarship. Students agree to repay the loan once they secure income from employment. E2G graduates earn 2 to 8 times the average monthly income in India.

The last and finale fall fundraising event is a glamorous Fashion Gala and Trunk Show to be held on November 16th in New York. Models will sashay down the runway in bold garments, displaying an array of colors and silhouettes by local designers. Guests will have an opportunity to purchase fashion pieces straight off the runway alongside other jewelry and accessories available at the trunk show. Share and Care will use funds from this evening to enhance their Women’s Empowerment Initiatives.

“SCF is all about touching lives, bridging distances, healing and building bonds. Our events will provide the opportunity to communicate to young hearts and minds and American colleagues and friends about SCF vision and strategies that is incredibly powerful” says Share and Care President, Mr. Arun Bhansali.

Share and Care, established 31 years ago, currently operates over 800 programs. The organization has helped more than 20 million women and children in rural India. Share and Care hopes to raise over $50,000 via their Fall Fundraiser series in order to continue the growth and support for such programs.
