Director Sajid Khan is all set to release his upcoming film titled Himmatwala, a remake of the popular 80s film. Sajid has his lead actor, Ajay Devgn, put on his dancing shoes to relive the magic of the popular song “Tathaiya Thathiya” which was created by superstar Jeetendra and Sridevi back then.
Devgn, who has already started shooting for the song in Mumbai with South co-star Tammanah said “It is one of the most popular numbers from the 80’s. Right from the sets to the costumes and the choreography, everything has been perfectly recreated.”
Although Sajid said he wants people to make a comparison between the original and his remake as he feels he’s done justice to the original, he did go on to add “It will be unfair to compare Ajay to Jeetendra especially since Jeetendra’s image as a dancer was strong at that time.”
None other than director Sajid Khan’s older sister and Bollywood’s most famous choreographer, Farah Khan has also taken part in this venture as the choreographer of the song but had some doubts about Devgns dancing skills. “I was not sure whether Ajay would be able to match Jeetendra’s steps, but the entire unit broke into applause after he gave his first take.” Seems like everyone is pleased with him now!
Produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Vashu Bhagnani and directed by Sajid Khan, Himmatwala starring Ajay Devgn and Tammanah is all set to hit theaters on March 29th, 2013.
