Shahrukh Khan fans rejoice! The first official song from Yash Chopra’s upcoming movie, “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” is finally out!! The song has more of a rock feel to it, although it is a punjabi number. The track is sung by Rabbi Shergill (of “Bulla Ki Jaana” fame), while the lyrics are penned by the legend, Gulzar. The cherry on top is the fact that the music is composed by the internationally-acclaimed Bollywood music hero, A R Rahman. Personally, I thought Rabbi’s voice was a bit too gruff for Shahrukh Khan, but maybe you’ll enjoy it!
Shahrukh looks amazing and surprisingly young! While the cinematography is nicely done, Shahrukh looks a bit uncomfortable with handling the guitar. I kind of wish they had just given him a mandolin! Based on the song it seems the movie will be just as good. And, as we all know, the combination of Shahrukh Khan and Yash Chopra creates magic! In the past Shahrukh’s collaborations with the Chopra house – whether Yash was producer or director – has resulted in blockbusters, Veer Zaara (2004), Chak De! India (2007), Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), and of course Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). This is the first time we’ve seen Shahrukh Khan paired with Katrina Kaif, so we’re assuming this will just add to the movie’s appeal. Anoushka Sharma, who starred opposite Shahrukh in her debut, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, also stars in the film.
As Yash Chopra, on the occasion of his 80th birthday, told Shahrukh Khan while in conversation with him,
“This is my favorite song and it is your song in the film. It is the soul of the film – you belong to everybody but nobody is yours. This song is in Punjabi language and it has been sung beautifully by Rabbi Shergill. Gulzar Saheb has written the lovely lyrics. He has given words to my vision. Working with AR Rahman and Gulzar, is like working with magicians.”
Let us know what you think of the song and be sure to check out the movie when it officially releases on Nov. 13, 2012!
