Despite not having a household name (yet!), Faran Tahir has a face familiar to many of us. The gifted Pakistani actor has appeared in a variety of Hollywood films as well as American television shows. You may recognize him in productions ranging from “Iron Man” to ‘Lost”.
Destined to be a part of the industry, Faran was born in Los Angeles as his parents studied at UCLA’s renowned theatre department. After moving to Pakistan, he returned to the US to attend UC Berkeley for his BA in theatre and later a graduate degree from the Harvard Institute for Advanced Theatre Training.
In 1994 Faran made his acting debut in Disney’s live-action version of “The Jungle Book” as Nathoo. He went on to appear alongside Tom Hanks in “Charlie Wilson’s War”, as Raza in “Iron Man” with Robert Downey Jr., and Captain Robau in J.J. Abram’s “Star Trek”. Faran has also appeared in over 35 television shows including “Warehouse 13”, “Blue Bloods”, “NCIS: LA”, “Supernatural”, “Charmed”, “Lost”, “24”, “West Wing”, and “Law and Order”.
You can now catch Faran as a guest star in the resurrected drama, “Dallas”, as ‘Smiling Frank’, the main character’s driver and go-t0 man. “Dallas was a phenomenon in its time. I didn’t get to watch it regularly but I definitely knew who was who on it. The resurrected Dallas has already proved to be a hit in the US and I hope it has the same impact with the British audiences” said b.
