Journalist Joya Dass has farsighted vision when it comes to charity!

Journalist, Joya Dass, is well known in the South Asian community as one of the main host’s of AVS.  In addition to her entertainment avatar, she keeps busy on weekdays in the world of business news anchoring for NY1 and CNN.  You’d think a gal might stop there, but Joya has only added to her list of skills and her busy schedule.  She’s added Director of a Documentary Film to her resume!  Now, I don’t know German, but I can definitely say that Dass Awesome… that is, Joya Dass is awesome!

The 50-minute documentary, “First Sight,” that Joya has directed, tackles the topic of curable blindness in children in the developing world.  The movie follows the lives of Rajnith, Balaji, and Anitha who all suffer from a serious eye condition.  This, in addition to the hardship of life in rural India – beset by poverty, poor hygiene, and lack of medical care.  First Sight follows the emotional journeys of these young patients as they prepare for and undergo life-changing procedures to
reverse their debilitating handicap.  Quite an emotional and interesting topic, wouldn’t you agree?

If you live in NYC you’ll be excited to know that you can catch the screening at the Disney Screening Room Tuesday, June 19th.  Plus, if the topic alone doesn’t catch your attention, you should go for the music as “First Sight” features new music from award-winning artists Sivamani and Falu!  Do check out this amazing movie!
