*Exclusive Interview* with Shweta Pandit: From Five to Fire!

Our very own DJ Ashish B had a chance to interview the sensational singer, Shweta Pandit.  For those who don’t know, Shweta is a talented Bollywood playback singer and is the younger sister of Shraddha Pandit, who is also a Bollywood playback singer in her own right.  In fact, Shweta is the fourth generation of vocalists and musicians in her family.

At the very young age of five, Shweta worked with Ilayaraja for the award-winning film, Anjali.  Her big break, however, was at the tender age of twelve, when she rendered five songs for Yash Chopra’s blockbuster, Mohabbatein in 2000.  She was selected from around 500 people!

Since then, there has been no turning back and Shweta has been setting the music world on fire with her unique vocals on tracks from movies like Naach (2004), Neal n Nikki (2005), Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (2006), Welcome (2007), Partner (2007), Sarkar Raj (2009), Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011),  Mere Brother ki Dulhan (2011), among several other Telugu and Hindi movies.

Most recently, she sang the super hit song “Thug Le” (Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl (2011), which I’ve had on repeat on my mp3 player ever since it came out!

In addition to Bollywood playback singing, Shweta also has several spiritual and devotional albums to her name.  One very popular album she released was Aplam Chaplam – the Star Mix, which featured Salman Khan in the video for the title track!

I’m sure you’re dying to listen to Part I of Shweta’s interview!  Check out this exclusive only on UrbanAsian.. and trust me, it’s a good one!
