It’s none other than “Jumping Jack” Jeetendra Kapoor’s birthday! Born April 7, 1942 as Ravi Kapoor, he found himself immersed in the world of Bollywood and Indian cinema after his debut in V. Shantaram’s “Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne” (1964) where he was launched as “Jeetendra“. The movie paired him opposite V. Shantaram’s daughter Rajshree and was an instant success.
Since then, Jeetendra quickly rose to stardom and dominated the movies in the 1970s and 1980s. His trademark dance moves are still a hit to this day. Jeetendra has continued to make movies in the 1990s as well as 2000s, and has been in a whopping 218 movies to date!
Jeetendra got married to his childhood sweetheart, Shobha Kapoor. The marriage resulted in a daughter, television producer Ekta Kapoor (of Balaji fame), and a son, Tusshar Kapoor, who followed his father’s footsteps into the world of Bollywood.
