Music What's Happenin'

Daler Mehndi celebrated Baisakhi in Patna

He has belted out numerous Bollywood hits, topped music charts with his pop albums, regaled all with his outstanding live performances but Daler Mehndi was the happiest singer on Baisakhi as he colored his own city in shades of ‘Mehndi’ on the eve of Baisakhi.

The singer who performed at Mangal Talaab in Patna City could not hide his happiness. Talking about the city of Patna, Mehndi said:

Patna Sahib is my ‘shehar’ (city), I was born there. My father was a Hazoori Raagi at Akal Takht Shri Patna Sahib and I am strongly connected with that place! It is overwhelming to perform at your birth place for your very own people and that too on the eve of Baisakhi!”

The festival was organized by the Department of Tourism, Bihar on the auspicious eve of Baisakhi. Talking about the festival, Mehndi said:

“Baisakhi is a festival that unites the world in one thread, that of Humanity. It was on this day the tenth Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji blessed humanity with Panj Pyaras (Five Beloved). The ‘Panj Pyaras’ hailed from different castes and from different places like Jaggannath Puri, Bidar, Dwarka, Hastinapur and Lahore, marking the unity in diversity. They were representatives of the whole India, so you know Baisakhi is not just a day for Punjabis to celebrate. It is day for humanity to come together and celebrate togetherness.”

The singer enthralled the audiences with his spellbound performance!
