Vidya Balan seems to be the flavor of the season in Bollywood right now. While she’s still busy collecting awards for her bold portrayal of sexy siren Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture, the actress is also looking forward to the release of her forthcoming flick Kahaani, and will be presented in a never-before-seen avatar for her lavani item number in Ferrari Ki Sawaari.
Titled ‘Mala Jau De‘, the authentic lavani song will show the actress wearing traditional Maharashtrian attire in her first item song. Having carried out three weeks of extensive rehearsals with a troupe from Kolhapur for the sequence, Balan is nothing but pleased with the result.
An insider adds:
“Everyone including Vidhu Vinod Chopra (producer) and Rajesh Mapuskar (director) think the song is filmed to perfection. But Vidya and Rajesh want to hold the first screening of the song for authentic dancers to gauge their reactions.”
And Rajesh Mapuskar, the director of Ferrari Ki Sawaari, confirmed the development, saying:
“Yes, we want the song to look absolutely traditional. We are in talks with some lavani dancers from regarding the first screening.”
Written and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film stars Sharman Joshi and is scheduled for release on April 27th, 2012.
