Set in South Jamaica Queens, New York, the story is based loosely around American Gangster, Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff, and the Supreme Team. South Side (series) portrays the New York drug trade in the early 1980s.

 

For the folks who are not familiar, the Supreme Team was a street gang organized in the early 1980s in the surrounding area of the Baisley Park Houses in Jamaica, Queens. At its 1987 peak, they made over $200,000 a day.
