Pakistani model and actress Veena Malik has been facing a tough time lately after it was made public that she is suing FHM India for Rs 10 crores following a ‘nude’ photo shoot scandal.
Malik received a double blow as she learned through the media, that not only did her father, Malik Mohammed Aslam, publicly disown her, but also certain media outlets were branding the whole scandal as a PR stunt.
Speaking to UrbanAsian the actress said:
“All I’m trying to do is make a name for myself as a woman in the entertainment industry. I am not doing anything different to any one else and sadly in this instance I feel like I have been used by a publication just so they can sell more copies. Why would I spend thousands of pounds on lawyers and legal fees if I didn’t feel like there was a case? I simply want justice for what has happened.”
Talking specifically about her family and her plans to return back to Pakistan to clear things, she said:
“It has been very upsetting for me, especially because I am so far away from my family. I have spoken to my mother and my sister and they understand, but I did not get a chance to speak to my father. I understand that he is angry especially because of the way some of the media have been portraying this. But I just want to remind people that the whole issue is that FHM India have printed my pictures without my permission and one of them has been doctored. I did not cross my limits and that’s what I know.”
Malik claims that she was misguided by the magazine about the shoot and did not see the nude picture of her that appeared in the FHM India magazine prior to it being printed. She said the thong she was wearing has been removed.
However, the actress claimed that she wished to move on from the scandal and focus on the positive aspects of her career. She will next be seen on ‘Veena ka Swayamvar’, which is due to air in the next few months on NDTV Imagine. This is the fourth season of the show, which will see Veena pick a prospective groom to marry from the thousands of men who audition.
When asked if she could make such a life-changing decision on television, she said:
“ Well I’m an actress and whatever I do with my life is made public. Even when I decide to get married it will become a public affair, so in that way I don’t think it makes any difference.”
When asked what three qualities she’ll be looking for in her life partner, Malik added:
“Love comes first – I think that’s the main thing. The second is money, because if I say money is not important then I would be lying, and the third is good looks because you need to be attracted to the person you’re with.”
The woman of the moment will next be seen in a very ‘happening’ item song for the forthcoming film called ‘Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai’, choreographed by Ahmed Khan.
