"The Rum Diary" to release in India!

PVR Pictures will release Johnny Depp’s next film, “The Rum Diary” in India this November! “The Rum Diary” gives Depp chance to play yet another crack at playing Thompson.

Jonny Depp plays a freelance journalist named Paul Kemp, who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself, amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction.

Depp earlier has also played a character based on Hunter S. Thompson, after starring in Terry Gilliam’s 1998 adaptation of ‘Fear And Loathing’ In Las Vegas. The stench of cheap booze, stale cigarettes, newsprint and pre-air- conditioning sweat wafts off the screen in ‘The Rum Diary’. It’s Johnny Depp’s second tribute to his friend, the late journalist and fellow Kentucky native Hunter S. Thompson.
