New Jersey based performing group – AATMA Performing Arts / AATMA Group – along with Bharat Yatra Productions will be pioneering the way for South Asians across the world as they become the first South Asian performing arts company in the United States to launch an international touring Bollywood dance spectacular. Aatma Performing Arts has solidified it’s reputation over the years as a leading dance company in the US. In fact, their dancers have won recognition in competitions such as Naya Andaaz, and also, one of their dancers is even on Just Dance with Hrithik Roshan.
Mystic India, A Bollywood Dance Spectacular is a tour-ready show that has created a platform for a generation of South Asian Americans who are fascinated with their own culture. The international tour kicks off in New Jersey at the State Theater in New Brunswick on Saturday August 13th, 2011 and will then continue to Basel, Switzerland a week later.
Creative director and choreographer, Amit Shah, says:
“Aatma’s dancers have grown up with a deep love and respect for their culture, for Bollywood, and for performance. We have danced in our communities and in the thriving collegiate South Asian dance scene, but societal pressures have held talent back from professionally pursuing their passion. Mystic India is a show where exceptionally talented performers can fulfill their lifelong dream of representing their culture on an international platform.”
